We left Nairobi and it was a long five hour drive to Amboseli National Park. Here's one last view of Nairobi as we made our way out of town.
You can get some sense of all the commerce that happens along the main road.
Amboseli National Park is a different experience from our previous safari at Kapama Camp outside Kruger, South Africa, despite having many of the same animals. Where we were cold on our Kampana early morning trips, it is hot in Amboseli as we are very close to the equator. There is dust everywhere in Amboseli, and as a result the safari trips can not be in open vehicles. It's not better or worse, just different. But one thing that is unique and amazing is that Amboseli provides amazing views of all 19,341 feet of Mount Kilimanjaro, weather permitting. We also got to meet some of the Maasai people outside their village.
Some of these are from Neal, some from Jane, but this one and the next two are from our new friend Rachel.
And now we are off to Tanzania and another 5 hour ride.
